What is Android ? Is a simple question that usually people ask and Answer to this Question in simple sentence is: An Android is an operating system for Mobile phones and Tablets. So to explain more about this in details i have to tell more about this which i have covered in the latter part of this article.
Now before proceeding let me tell you what is an operating system ? An operating system (OS) is a collection of software that acts as an intermediary between the computer applications and the computer hardware. This intermediary use to convert high level language to machine language and reverse. To explain this i am giving simple example ( Now lets consider you are from Australia and you are on World tour and now you are in a small village of any other country where people don't know any other language then their own now how will you communicate with them because you too don't know their language so here you will need the third person who know their language and your language too) To know more about Operating System Read here.
So now lets proceed with our main point What is Android ?
Talking about mobile phone we can say that before we use to have phones that are only capable to make and receive calls along with some more features like sms etc. But now with advancement in the technology now we can find phones which comes with lots of added features like 3G, 4G, GPS, Camera, Video Calling, GPRS, Wifi, bluetooth, NFC. and much more. So to Run this type of high ended phones with lots of cool and added features operating system is required there are different type of os like iOS that runs on iPhone and iPad, Symbian Anna for Nokia phones, Bada os etc similarly Android is also an operating system from Google that is used to run smartphones.
So Now we can say Google's Phone Operating System is Known as Android. Android was first developed by another company latter on Google purchased it made it opensource platform. This is a linux based operating system with lots of features. Thousands of apps, games, live wallpaper, themes etc most of them can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store and installed on your Android phones.
